Teaching Juneteenth

Teaching about the history of American slavery often centers on the governments role in granting freedom; but it’s important for students to know that enslaved people didn’t willfully accept enslavement - they resisted often & consistently. Knowledge empowers students to advocate for diversity & narratives that have been erased.
