A balanced view of impossible aesthetics: An empirical investigation of how impossibility relates to our enjoyment of magic tricks

People enjoy experiencing a sense of impossibility. The performance art of magic allows us this experience. Enjoyment of a magic trick is positively related to surprise & the extent to which the trick appears to violate the laws of nature & allows a person to experience the impossible.

Relational Space encourages communication and collaboration among artists, scientists, policy-makers and community activists with focus on marginalized populations and topics of equity and social justice.  Our vision sees a more just and sustainable world, inspired by art and transformed through truth.
