Performing Arts as a Health Resource? An Umbrella Review of the Health Impacts of Music and Dance Participation

Performing arts participation is a health promoting activity, with beneficial effects reported across healthy children, adolescents, adults & older adults. Positive health effects were associated with as little as 30 - 60 mins of performing arts participation, with drumming, expressive & exercise-based modes of dance linked to the broadest health benefits.
