Perceptions of Child Abuse as Manifested in Drawings and Narratives by Children and Adolescents

How is child abuse/neglect perceived by children? Struggling with feelings of humiliation, guilt & shame, drawings help communicate communicate the abuse in an attempt to gain an understanding of the painful experience; however, for some the task is perceived as overwhelming, which evokes more defensive drawings to maintain emotional distance.
